7-year-old Video of The Voice Ph Contestant James Dy Goes Viral After His Popular Audition
Jason Dy, a professional “haranista” (someone who serenades people for a living), posted a video of himself on Youtube singing Ordinary People by John Legend last 2007. Seven years after, the said video went viral and spread among people on the internet after his audition for The Voice of the Philippines went on air last November 9.
Jason said on the video description that it was his first time to upload a video on Youtube and that the song Ordinary People by John Legend is one of his personal favorites.
During his blind auditions for the second season of The Voice of the Philippines, he sang Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” that made Judges Lea Salonga, a.p.l.de.ap, Sarah Geronimo turn their seats for him. His voice made the three judges excited as they watch him sing. He was eventually placed on Sarah Geronimo’s team.

Long-time fans of his are happy that the haranista’s talent are finally being recognized by more people. Commenter Ric Naval said: “Grabe, idol ko to. Sa Soundcloud ko siya una sinundan. Ang linis ng pagkakakanta niya tapos ang galing rin ng control niya. Siya rin nag-demo ng ibang sumikat na song. So happy na finally may opportunity na siya to share his voice and talent to the world. Good luck sir. :)” Sam Conception’s “Kontrabida” and Daniel Padilla’s “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat” are some songs that Jason was the demo artist for.
